Two babies born on the same day in the same hospital. You may not think there's anything surprising about that, but what if we told you the babies are from the same family. Well there's still one more twist to this delivery.
Gene and his sister Beth are twins.
"We've always had a bond being twins. Our personalities are a lot different but we've always been close together because we've been twins," says Beth.
The two grew up, got married and both couples became pregnant.
Beth was due this Friday but late Sunday night it seemed the baby had a different plan.
"My water broke and I got up here. I wasn't doing anything," says Beth.
Beth was progressing slowly at Good Shepherd Medical Center. Meanwhile Gene's wife Pamela, who wasn't due until the end of the month, began to feel some pains of her own.
"And I had been having contractions all day. 6 o'clock the next morning my water broke," says Pamela.
And the race was on.
"I was running back and forth, checking on one and then the other and I kept reporting she's doing this and she's doing that and I had a pretty busy day running around yesterday," says Gene.
The winner of the baby race is Pamela! Brandon Lawyer was born just after two o'clock Monday afternoon weighing in at 8 pounds and 4 ounces.
About five hours later Matthew Todd made his way into the world at 6 pounds and 7 ounces.
"We knew that our due dates were close together but we had no idea that we would have them the same day," says Beth.
So with the pains of labor in the not so distant past, the twins, their spouses and the baby boys are all doing well.
