Girl's Leg May Be Amputated After Bizarre Accident

A 10 year old east Texas girl may lose her leg after a tree limb fell on top of her.

Last Sunday afternoon Catherine Owens was playing at a friend's home in Upshur county when a large tree limb crashed through the roof crushing her leg.

Catherine was taken to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. She has undergone several operations but doctors still do not know if they will be able to save Catherine's leg.

The Owen's family does not have insurance. A fund has been set up to help pay for medical cost. You can make donations at the Gilmer First National Bank.

Catherine's 11th birthday is Monday. To get a birthday gift to Catherine drop off packages at Rose Heights Church Of God on Hawkins Parkway in Longview.

You can also donate blood at Stewart Regional Blood Center in Catherine Owen's name. For every donation the Owens family will receive $10 toward her blood bill.
