Family speaks out in Liberty city shooting

TYLER,TX (KLTV)- An east Texas man remains in intensive care after being shot by his neighbor.

Authorities have arrested two suspects in the shooting that happened Thursday night in the Smallwood road neighborhood of Liberty city. 30 year old Eric Hinkle faces 5 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His girlfriend, 28 year old Jennifer Hicks-Williams is charged with hindering apprehension and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Authorities say Hinkle followed the victim home after an argument and opened fire with an assault rifle. We spoke to the victims family today, still trying to make sense of Hinkle's rampage.

"He went into his house go the gun and came back, and went around the house and shot at my son, he was trying to kill him," says the victims mother Lisa Burleson.

"I hear gunshots 3 feet away from me , and I've never had to watch one of my friends bleed to death in my arms," said the victims roommate, Carl Hats.

Family members say the victim, who's identity they still want to protect, remains in I-CU-, and has taken over 30 units of blood.
