Hundreds of Tyler students, clad in cap and gown, took home their high school diplomas Friday.
Robert E. Lee and John Tyler High School graduated more than 750 students combined. John Tyler's students took the walk into adulthood around 10 a.m. Lee held its commencement service eight hours later.
The day was bitter sweet for many students and parents.
"It's very emotional, we've got a lot of family out in the stands," said proud John Tyler dad, Edwin Tilley. "It's a happy moment, I'm ready to get on with the rest of my life, it's been long and hard."
