Neighbors offer $1,000 for answers in man's death

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A community is coming together in asking for the publics help to find answers in the death of one of their neighbors.

Authorities say Lloyd Johnson Sr., 67, of Longview was found Monday in his home on Booker Street, after a concerned friend could not reach him.

Detectives believe Johnson died as a result of foul play.

People in Johnson's neighborhood have put together a $1,000 reward for anyone who sheds light on his death.

Many think a makeshift memorial in no substitute for justice.

"He didn't open his door at night," said Benitha Johnson, his daughter. "If we got in, we called him before we came, and when we got here we called him. Again, if not, he wouldn't open the door, so it really had to be someone he knew."

"Anybody know anything - any information - please contact the police department, so we want this solved," said Sherry Davis, his niece.

Funeral arrangements for Johnson are being taken care of at Bethel Temple on Mobberly Avenue.
