Sausage-stuffed fried mushrooms from Cooking Up a Storm's Grant

1 pound of large button mushrooms

½ pound of regular sausage

½ pound of spicy sausage

4 oz of pepper jack cheese


Corn starch

Baking soda

Plain bread crumbs

Seasoning salt

Brown your sausage in a skillet, drain the excess grease, and add your shredded pepper jack cheese.  Rinse your mushrooms and remove the cap.  Stuff the cap with your sausage cheese mixture.

Batter mix:  2 cups of flour, 2 cups of water, 1 tsp of corn starch, 1 tsp of baking soda.  Blend smooth.

Dip your stuffed mushroom in the batter and then coat in brad crumbs.  Fry in 365 degree oil for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown.  Drain excess grease and sprinkle with seasoning salt.  Serve with your favorite dip and enjoy.
