San Antonio-AP -- The Dallas Mavericks have staved off elimination rallying from 19 points down to beat the San Antonio Spurs 103-to-91 in game five of the Western Conference finals.

Michael Finley had 31 points to lead the Mavs, who were playing their second game without injured star forward Dirk Nowitzki (noh-VIHT'-skee). Finley, who was 9-of-14 from the floor, made all 12 of his foul shots

Nick Van Exel added 21 points for Dallas, which will host game six Thursday night.

The Mavs turned the game around by outscoring the Spurs 29-to-10 in the fourth quarter. They also got plenty of help from the Spurs who missed their first eight shots of the period.

Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 23 points and 15 rebounds but he made just one of two shots in the fourth quarter. Stephen Jackson added 20 points for San Antonio.

Over the past three years Dallas is 7-and-2 when facing elimination.
