Community Spotlight – Children's Advocacy Centers

Physical and sexual abuse of children is a massive problem in Texas and east Texas is no exception. One in three girls and one in five boys will be sexually abused. This is a cycle that must be broken. Thankfully there are organizations in our area that are dedicated to ministering to the needs of the young victims of physical and sexual abuse. The Children's Advocacy Center of Gregg and Harrison Counties and the Children's Advocacy Center of Smith County provide vital services in this area of need. And because of their tireless work for the youngest of victims in our society, we have chosen these centers as KLTV's Community Spotlight for August.  The mission of every Children's Advocacy Center is to reduce the trauma and emotion of the child victims of sexual and physical abuse. These groups help victims in their journey through the criminal justice system which takes a heavy toll.
