TYLER, TX (KLTV) - TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A big group of Tyler residents does not want to be forced to find a new place to take their mail.
So they held a rally Wednesday afternoon to voice support for the downtown post office.
The city says that location is being evaluated for possible closure, but supporters say that office is too valuable to be shut down.
"The post office is a vital part of any community," said Tommie Jackson, a Tyler resident. "You can't get that same service. If this office is moved, and some other company comes in, you're not going to get the same treatment that you get from the post office."
Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass also spoke at Wednesday's rally, saying that if the post office were to close, it would slow downtown revitalization efforts.
