TYLER, TX (KLTV) - For the first time ever, John Tyler has dropped down from the states largest classification of 5A. This year the Lions are in class 4A sitting in a district with seven other East Texas schools.
"It's like what Coach Rush says, we can't do anything about it," said David Bush. "Everyone's going to be gunning for us. We've just got to play."
The Lions don't have a single game outside of East Texas this season. At least until the playoffs. That means less long distance travel and some great area rivalries. The Lions expect to roar in their new district home.
"It was kind of good and kind of bad," said Robert Wheeler. "In 5A I kind of wanted to get back at some teams, but it's good because we're local and we can play people we know. It's just fun to play people you know because there's a lot of trash talking."
