TYLER, TEXAS (KLTV) - They started slow, but boy did they end with a bang.

After an 0-5 start to the 2009, the Lee Red Raiders rallied for wins in 6 of their last 7, before ultimately falling 27-23 to Stony Point in the 3rd round of the playoffs.

"We still have a sour taste in our mouth," said senior Chad Reese, "We feel if a few more things went our way, we could have been state champs."

As it is, the Raiders will start the 2010 season against the champs, Euless Trinity.

"I think it is great that we play such a hard pre-season, and with Trinity coming in to open with, it can do nothing but help us as the season moves on," said senior Marquis Mosely.

The Raiders won't exactly play Trinity with an empty cupboard, many players say the 2010 Lee team, could be as good, as one of the best teams in school history.

"We know about the '04 team and the team we had last year. We may have a had a few players in positions that were pretty good, but this is overall the best team that I feel like has been here since the '04 team," said Reese, "I feel like we should be able to go far this year, that's the attitude we have this year is winner take all."

"We just feel like if we go out on Friday and compete, no one in the state of Texas can compete with us," added Mosely.

Lee and Trinity will square off on Saturday, August 28th, at 9:00 from Rose Stadium.

The game is also being broadcast nationally on ESPN-U.
