SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - On February 8th, Clear Spring Baptist Church burned to the ground, one of two churches to burn that night.
August 8th will mark the 6 month anniversary of the fire. Members of the congregation spent Saturday morning clearing the last bit of construction debris, mowing the grounds and putting the finishing touches on their new place of worship.
"We prayed and prayed, and finally, it's here," said Rachel Friend, a member of Clear Spring. "It is gorgeous."
"It's been a long process, but the Lord has shown us favor throughout the situation," said Brandon Owens, pastor of the church.
The congregation will hold its very first service in the new building, Sunday, Aug. 8th at 11 a.m.
Owens said the entire community is welcome to join the celebration.
