MARSHALL, TX (KTRE) - A Nacogdoches man, awaiting his day in court for his alleged role in an eight-liner bust, now faces charges in a car scheme in Harrison County.
According to Administrative Deputy Jay Webb in the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, Segile Allen Cunningham, 59, used counterfeit cashiers checks for payment to sellers of vehicles. He then sells the vehicle to used car dealers, with the clear title, before the checks can clear license agencies.
Webb described the fake checks as professional-looking checks.
Webb said he is wanted by other area law enforcement agencies for the same crime.
Cunningham missed a hearing concerning his charge for keeping an illegal gambling place in Nacogdoches County, due to his being hospitalized in a Houston hospital. Webb said he did not know about the hospitalization, or about the pending charge in Nacogdoches County.
"No, I had no idea about that!" Webb said with a laugh. "I'll have to be sure to check that out."
Webb said he would call the Nacogdoches Sheriff's Office about Cunningham's status and try to serve an arrest warrant to him.
