LINDALE, TEXAS (KLTV) - When the UIL reclassified schools in February, non were more pleased than the Lindale Eagles.
For the past two seasons, the Eagles were in 4A, one of the smallest teams in the entire classification.
But dont let it fool you, that same Eagles team, walked away with a 4A district title in 2009.
"It gives everyone else a big mindset but we've got to look at it as we were the small school and we just one a district championshipm," said linebacker Blake Johnson, "So it could happen with anybody. We've just got to keep our head straight and play like we're the small school still.
The new district alignment, finds the Eagles with old rivals Van and Canton, as well as a district champion in Wills Point, as well as Quinlan Ford and Emory-Rains.
But still, Lindale, seems to be the favorite.
"the pressure is good. It's going to help us do better," said running back John Ryzman, "I think it's going to help everyone around us. We've got high expectations this year and we have to live up to them."
"Our motto is storm, so we're going to storm and go all the way," said running back Terronce Johnson, "That's what we're trying to do."
Lindale opens thier new 3A campaign, against Spring Hill, who beat Lindale last years season debut.
