Man pleads guilty to wrench murder of 76-year-old

RUSK COUNTY, TX - On Monday, August 2, 2010, Joe Don Turner, 34, plead guilty to the murder of Eugene Snitker in the District Court of presiding Judge Clay Gossett. Judge Gossett sentenced Turner to a life sentence, without possibility of parole, for the March 9, 2010, murder of Eugene Snitker, 76, of Reklaw, Texas. Turner was arrested on March 10, 2010, in Hutchins, Texas, and placed in the Rusk County Jail.

Turner entered the home of Mr. Snitker on March 9, 2010. Turner violently attacked Mr. Snitker with a wrench which belonged to the victim. The victim, Snitker was later discovered by his wife, after she returned home from work. Mr. Snitker was transported by Ambulance to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. Mr. Snitker was pronounced dead at the Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital by Nacogdoches County Justice of Peace Pct. 4, Bob Perkins.

Sheriff Danny R. Pirtle stated that this is the result of a combined effort of all agencies. The agencies worked together to accomplish the same goal, which is to keep our neighborhoods and surrounding areas safe and secure from criminal activity.
