HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Henderson County investigators said a report of a missing woman lead to the discovery of some burned remains outside a home on County Road 3612.

Family members of Sandra Gail Anderson, 50, called the sheriff's office for help in finding her.

Authorities went to a home on CR 3612 and became suspicious after talking with the homeowner, Avery Lee Denton, 46.  They said the circumstances of Anderson's disappearance Denton communicated to them did not add up.

A search of the property was then conducted where the remains were discovered. Authorities believe they are Anderson's remains.

"We found the burn pile, then he basically said [Anderson] was in the burn pile," said Ray Nutt, Henderson County Sheriff.

Sources told us the victim had only been living with Denton a few weeks.

Denton was arrested and charged with Tampering with/Fabricating Physical Evidence.

Kathryn Jordan lives down the road from Denton and said there have been several incidents at the home throughout the past few years.

She said she's warned her children and grandchildren to avoid his driveway, in particular.

"I think they'd find more than one body down there," she said.  Jordan said she's called police in the past after hearing gun shots, and sometimes screaming, coming from the property.

"I hope we positively identify her and find out the true circumstances of her death," said Nutt.

Nutt said he's confident the remains are human.  He said if there is enough evidence, murder charges could be filed.

The remains were sent to a Dallas medical examiner.

Denton remains in jail on $200,000 bond.
