TYLER, TX (KLTV) - TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It was a day of celebration for the Boys and Girls Clubs of East Texas and local officers.
Thursday, the Clubs hosted an annual Appreciation Lunch for law enforcement. It is a chance for the youngest members of our community to interact with officers.
Firefighters along with more than 50 officers with Tyler Police, DPS and Smith County Sheriff's Office had lunch with club members.
"I think this is what we're missing," said Smith County Chief Deputy Bobby Gorman. "I think these kids are looking for some adult to take time with 'em. That's what's missing - what they want that's something we go to do."
The lunch was briefly interrupted when members of the Tyler Fire Department were forced to leave to respond to a nearby house fire.
