TYLER, TX (KLTV) - By Jamey Boyum - email
TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Are you ready for a hurricane or other natural disaster? We're close enough to the coast to be hit a tropical storm which could result in all kinds of damage. Tyler was one of 15 cities statewide the Texas Department of State Health Services visited to find out if we're "Ready Or Not?"
They set up at the Tyler mall parking lot to remind us to have an emergency kit ready. Pack plenty of water, non perishable, food, medical supplies, flashlight, batteries, a radio…anything you think you'll need if you're forced to live away from your home with no electricity.
"It's so important to be prepared for an emergency," said Anna Toon, with the Texas Department of State Health Services. "We want people to be prepared before a flood, before a hurricane…that way they don't have to worry about it, they can worry about their families."
The Texas Department of State Health Services points out to remember food for your pet, and plan out a location to meet your family members just in case you're separated when disaster strikes.
