TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Eddie Ray Myers, 61, of Tyler has been formally charged with bank robbery.

Myers appeared in Federal court Monday morning, charged with the July 14th holdup at the BBVA Compass Bank on South Broadway in Tyler. US Judge Judith Guthrie presided over the arraignment. A lawyer was appointed to Myers, who faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Myers was arrested Friday after a Smith County Constable spotted him dumping a trash bag on Smith County Rd 461 near Lindale where he was taken into custody. Following his arrest, Myers was transported to a local hospital after complaining of chest pains.
