LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The Longview Fire Department dedicated a new $1,800,000 fire station Thursday morning.

The ceremony also honored LFD firefighters who had died while on duty.

The new 10,000 square foot facility on McCann Road has four bays for firefighting equipment, with workspace and quarters for 12 firefighters.

"Fire Station 6 is one of our busiest stations," said LFD chief J.P. Steelman. "The new station will be a great resource for the men and women that serve in the Longview Fire Department."

The expansion replaces the old Station 6 at 1515 Judson Road.
