Pieces of home mailed to troops

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A little bit of home was being packaged up in Longview Thursday, to be sent as appreciation to our troops overseas.

Workers with the American Red Cross teamed up with employees of Wells Fargo Advisors to pack much needed, and sometimes hard to get items to be sent to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Wells Fargo actually took donations and will pay for the shipping of around 400 boxes from East Texas offices.

From socks, to snacks to batteries, a little gesture says what they are thinking.

"We want to support the troops and let them know that we'll never forget about them, we think about them and pray for them on a daily basis," said Paula Prince, with the American Red Cross, East Texas Piney Woods Chapter.

"This is a way as a group collectively that we can support our troops and give back to our community and our nation as a whole," said Dave Spurrier, a Wells Fargo advisor.

Individual packages will be mailed out to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan by Friday.
