Cocaine found lying next to Bible on shelf

TALCO, TX (KLTV) - Released by the Titus County Sheriff's Office:

TALCO, TX - On the 21st day of July 2010 Titus County Sheriff's Office executed a Narcotic Search Warrant at 510 South 1st Street in Talco, Texas. After receiving information for the past month about this residence having heavy traffic with suspicious persons deputies began looking into the complaints and began an investigation. Deputies confirmed through the investigation that a Kelvin Jerome Brown was selling narcotics from this residence. Titus County Deputies then presented a Search Warrant to Justice of the Peace Kay McNutt who after review, signed the Search Warrant authorizing deputies to search the residence at 510 South 1st Street. When deputies entered the residence, Kelvin Brown was located in a bedroom and detained. A search of Kelvin Brown's person revealed two bags of substance believed to be marihuana. Deputies then searched the room Kelvin Brown was located in and located what is believed to be "crack" cocaine laying next to a Bible on a shelf. Kelvin Brown was arrested for the following offenses:

1) Possession of Marihuana less than 2 ounces, PC 481.121 Misdemeanor B punishable by up to 6 months jail and/or up to a $1,000 fine

2) Possession of a Controlled Substance over one and under four grams, PC 481.115 3rd Degree Felony punishable by 2 to 10 years in TDCJ and/or up to a $10,000 fine.
