SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Visitation is underway right now for a wife and mother who was tragically killed while mowing her property. It happened Sunday afternoon in the 20000 block of County Road 26.

The Smith County Sheriff's Department says Anjanette Herring, 40, died after a riding lawn mower ended up on top of her in a creek bed.

Herring is listed on Facebook as leaving behind seven children ranging in age from 10 to 22.

She and her husband had also just celebrated their one year anniversary. She posted that July 17th so just one day after celebrating their first year of marriage, she was tragically killed.

Her husband writes he lost his best friend and can't understand why. He says she did nothing but bring joy to everyone she met and he knows they will one day meet again.

Wednesday, Lieutenant Tony Dana with the Smith County Sheriff's Department explained how the accident happened, according to her husband.

"She actually parked the lawn mower and got off for a few minutes," said Dana. "She got a phone call from some family members and she was talking to them on the phone. He had to run back to the house for a few minutes and he did that and when he came back, that's when he discovered her in the creek and the lawn mower was upside down on top of her.

Lieutenant Dana says her husband, Jerry, couldn't get the lawn mower off her and had to run back to the house to call 9-1-1.

Her funeral is set for tomorrow and the sheriff's department is awaiting autopsy results.
