Gun found lying between 2 bodies

PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Another team of East Texas investigators are looking for answers in the deaths of two people found in a cabin on Monday.

Panola County sheriff's were called by the owner of a hunting cabin who had discovered the two deceased bodies in a camp house in the western part of Panola County on FM 999.

A male and a female, appeared to have been deceased for several days.

Investigators discovered a gun lying between the two bodies, indicating a possible murder-suicide.

The female was identified as Dawn Heffner, 37, of Scroggins, and the male as Lawrence Bueno, 47, also of Scroggins.

"From the state of their bodies after ten days in a hot house, the decomposition was such that we couldn't tell much about them, and it's one of the reasons that we're going to wait for the autopsy to be able to determined that actual cause of death," said Panola County Sheriff Jack Ellet.

The bodies were transported to Southwest Institute of Forensics in Dallas.
