GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Two homicides are discovered within just a few hours of each other.
A woman's body was found Tuesday afternoon on FM 2087 near the Sabine River.
The decomposed body of Sygunda Williams, 34, was found wrapped in a sheet near the Sabine River. Investigators believe she was killed at another location and her body dumped there. The news is startling for the people who knew her.
"I couldn't believe it at first," said Colvianto Morrison. "Then, I thought about the little girl who used to walk up the street to the store... It was cruel. I don't know what she could have done for someone to do her like that."
"I've know her all of my life and when I heard, it was really a shock," said Marcus Williams, a neighbor. "You see a person one day and then the next day they're gone."
Just hours after finding Ms. Williams' body, deputies were called to shots fired, at the Riverside RV Park on Highway 42. Brian Barnett, 37, was killed from gunshot wounds as witnesses say a suspect quickly fled the scene. Investigators tell us they have located the suspect's car.
"They were able to identify a suspect and since that time we've executed a search warrant," said . "The suspect vehicle has been seized and processed for evidence. Evidence related to the crime has been recovered…The vehicle was located in an area of western Harrison County."
Investigators are still trying to find motive in both homicides.
Officials have obtained a warrant for the arrest of James Nathan Alexander of Harrison County in connection with the death of Barnett.
Williams' body has been sent to Dallas for autopsy.
