LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police say they have arrested a Huntington man who tried to pass a check at a business. The investigation may have been made easier after the suspect allegedly left his driver's license behind when fleeing the scene.

According to the report, Chad Thomas Sachitano, 24, attempted to pass a check at ACE Cash Express, at 3009 South John Redditt Drive on June 10, around 8 a.m. He left his driver's license at the business and fled the area when an employee attempted to contact the person listed as the issuer on the check.

Police used the driver's license and surveillance video to trace the crime to Sachitano, the report stated. Police then interviewed him, and Sachitano admitted he found a book of checks in the men's restroom at Kiwanis Park and that he tried to cash one of the checks, the report stated.

Sachitano surrendered to the investigating detective on Monday and is held in the Angelina County Jail on a $1,600 bond.
