Cherokee Rose Festival in Gilmer

It's a little slice of Americana something right out of a Norman Rockwell painting.

We're talking about the quaint little festival in Gilmer held every spring, the 17th annual Cherokee Rose Festival.

It was held today at the downtown square in Gilmer. There were all American things to do like a hula-hoop contest, a classic car show, dancing and a pet's show.

Though the true origins of the festival remain something of a mystery, it's a good excuse for visitors to have a good time.

The event will conclude tomorrow with a Cherokee rose trail ride beginning at 10 a.m. at the Yamboree grounds.
