LONGVIEW,TX (KLTV)- A milestone birthday for an east Texas man who served with the greatest generation. Family and friends met in Gladewater to throw a party for a spry and energetic 90-year old Lloyd Wells.
"90 years young today, definitely energetic and my best friend and all my friends thought of him as a friend," said son Robert Wells.
When most people at 90 lose their mobility or rest in assisted living homes, Wells is far from frail.
"I feel younger than 90, I don't feel like I'm an old man," said Lloyd.
"He has energy that keeps him going all the time, we make jokes and call him the energizer bunny," said daughter Kimberly Wells-Baker.
He was a World War II paratrooper who fought in North Africa and Europe. He now works a full time job at Wal-Mart, and often rides motorcycles with his family.
"Exercise good living and just staying active, I think those are the keys to his energy," said Robert.
His secrets, diet, exercise, and a good marriage.
"When I go to work, I come home she's always got supper ready and everything she's been great, I never have to worry about nothing like that, she's great," said Lloyd.
Wells lives with his wife of 48 years in Gilmer.
