Restaurant Report: Dangerous temperatures, unclean conditions

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Foods held at dangerous temperatures and unsanitary conditions are just a couple of the violations found in the latest inspection of restaurants by East Texas health departments.

Longview Ice Cream at 2815 Estes Parkway, in Longview
Mayonnaise was held too warm (thermometer)
Stored fruit and other food items were not dated (danger)
A dirty ice cream dipper was found (unclean)
Total demerits: 18

Bill's #3 Convenience Store at 2309 North Eastman Road
Raw catfish held at unsafe temperature (thermometer)
Mold was found on white rice (danger)
Bad cheese was found and stored foods were not dated (danger)
Total demerits: 16

In Tyler, La Michoacana #14 at 310 North Beckham
Flies were found throughout the building (unclean)
Rodent droppings were found near the bakery (unclean)
An inspector observed hand-washing violations (handwashing)
An employee was seen handling raw meat and serving customers ready-to-eat food (danger)
Slicers and utensils needed a thorough cleaning (unclean)
Permit suspended due to repeat violations, later reinstated
Total demerits: 33

Carniceria Los Toros at 1415 East Erwin
Hot dogs, ham, and queso was not kept cold enough (thermometer)
No thermometers were available (thermometers)
A hand sink was not accessible (handwashing)
A meat slicer needed cleaning (unclean)
Total demerits: 21
