TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A Smith County jury has found Dennis Pittman guilty of organized criminal activity; this includes allegations of aggravated sexual assault of a child.
At 4:30 p.m. Pittman was sentenced to life in prison.
It didn't take the jury long to find Pittman guilty, and then sentence him. It only took about three hours for a conviction. Then, it only took about half an hour to sentence him to life in prison.
During closing arguments Thursday morning, Pittman's defense emphasized the lack of evidence in the case and questioned the credibility of the child victims.
Prosecutors played to the emotions of the jurors, calling the defendant "pure evil." They used a timeline to point out when the children made the accusations, and argued there is no way they made everything up.
After Pittman was found guilty, all of the child victims filed into the court room, obviously, ready to close this chapter of their lives.
