LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin man who was the victim of a gunshot to the face Friday was arrested Saturday for making an unnecessary 911 call, police say.
According to Det. J.B. Smith, Jerry Earl Lane, Jr., 38, called police Saturday and reported his big-screen TV was stolen while he was at the hospital being treated for a gunshot.
Smith said police determined he had made a false report and arrested him Saturday evening.
Lane was shot Friday afternoon during what police say was a family disturbance at Courtyard Apartments on Third Street. He was treated and released around 6 p.m. Saturday.
Lane is charged with the misdemeanor offenses of false report and no drivers license. He bonded out of jail for $2,000.
Smith said police are still investigating the Friday shooting and have not named a suspect.
