Officer's Wound Self-Inflicted

Some surprising new information about Friday's attempted bank robbery in Gladewater. The officer believed to have been shot by a suspect, was apparently struck by a ricochet from his own gun.

The Gregg County Sheriff's Department confirmed Officer Jason Weeks was hit after one of his own bullets deflected off the suspect's van. Deputies would not say whether the suspects were armed or not.

Meanwhile, 42 year old Charles Clinton Baugher, the suspect shot during the chase, was released from ETMC. Baugher was later arraigned in Gregg County, and charged with Robbery.

His son, the other robbery suspect, is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center for two weeks while undergoing observation. His attorney says the juvenile had no idea his father intended to rob the bank.
