TYLER, TX (KLTV) – A tropical low pressure system continues to spread large amounts of moisture across East Texas. This low will eventually die out this evening, but not before it pulls in a tremendous amount of Gulf Moisture into the area. Because of this, numerous showers and thundershowers will develop. Rain fall rates could range between 1 and 2 inches of rain per hour in a few of the heaviest storms. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for all of East Texas. A few of the stronger Thundershowers could produce gusty winds as well, however, at this time the threat of severe weather appears low.
Another tropical low pressure continues over the western Gulf of Mexico and could become a depression before making landfall along the far southern coast of Texas/Northern Mexico late today or early tomorrow. East Texas will be located in an easterly flow around this system allowing for more moisture to enter our area, keeping the threat of heavy rain around through at least Friday morning.
