FT. WORTH, TX - A Winnsboro man drowns Monday afternoon after leaping into a river to try and rescue a child. It happened at the shore of Trinity Park on the Trinity River in Fort Worth.
Our affiliate in Dallas says Richard Walker and his wife, Sandra, were trying to save the 7 year old girl who had fallen into the river.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, Richard Walker's body was discovered about 30 minutes later. The seven-year-old girl and her eight-year-old brother were placed in the care of child protective services. The Walkers were in the process of adopting the two at the time.
