Mankins Name taken off KFC Murder Case

A man long thought to be a prime suspect in the KFC murders in Kilgore, has been removed from all records of suspicion in that case.

A Rusk county judge has ordered Jimmy Mankins' name removed from any records of indictment connected to the case.

Mankins was charged in 1995 in 5 capital murder indictments for the murder of 5 people kindapped from a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kilgore. The charges were later dropped.

This latest compromise agreement, called an "expongement", was made between prosecutors and Mankins' attorney.

Mankins remains in federal prison in Texarkana on drug charges. His attorneys hope the removal of his name from the records of indictment will help him get an early release.
