Police Officer Shot in Gladewater Bank Robbery

It was just before 3:00 Friday afternoon that police were called to a reported robbery at the Gladewater National Bank, and within minutes police began chasing 2 suspects in a vehicle down nearby Shell Camp Road.

One Gladewater officer approached the vehicle from the rear, and shots were fired.

Gladewater police officer Jason Weeks was injured from a head wound and taken to a Longview hospital. He was treated and released.

Police fired a volley of shots at the vehicle as the suspects attempted to flee, and one suspect was wounded and lifeflighted to ETMC Tyler where he underwent surgery. A second suspect, a juvenile, was arrested and taken to juvenile detention.

Both face charges of attempted robbery and attempted murder for shooting at a peace officer.
