ATHENS, TX (KLTV) - Nina Burch, a first grader from the Athens area was moved to tears when she heard that some of the elderly can't afford air conditioning. Now, she is on a one-kid campaign to keep those in need cool this summer.

Nina is just seven years old. Most kids her age are getting into video games or finding creative ways to get siblings in trouble. Nina is determined to keep those in need cool this summer by buying the deserving air conditioners - not fans, but actual AC units.

Her garage sale is starting this weekend and will run every weekend for the next month or so. Nina wanted to start the sale Friday and did sell a few items, but the rain had them running the stuff that wasn't water-proof in and out of the weather. But, it did not dampen her spirit.

Nina does need more sellable items. Air conditioners run around $100 each, and she wants to help as many folks as she can, so she really needs donations. Her Paw-Paw has a trailer, so they can even pick up bulky items. So, Nina plans on standing around in the heat so others can stay cool all summer.

Nina's garage sale is located at 10129 County Road 1208 just outside of Athens. You can call her mom, Lisa, at 903-275-7877 for information or to make a donation.
