HAWKINS, TX (KLTV) - Bob Brown joined the Marine Corps in 1944, but with World War II winding down, he was never sent into battle. That was not the case when he was called back to active duty seven years later for the war in Korea.
Brown was in three major campaigns in Korea before being seriously wounded. He was hit in the left thigh and right leg. The heel of his left foot was blown off and he lost a life threatening amount of blood. The next 17 months were spent hospitals recuperating from his wounds. For a time it seemed the doctors wouldn't be able to save his foot, but finally were able to do so.
At the age of 83 Bob Brown spends much of his time in his wheelchair. But in spite of the sacrifices he is made for our country, he says he would not want to live anywhere else.
