LINDALE, TX (KLTV) - Released by the Lindale ISD:
LINDALE, TX - Grammy-nominated artist Miranda Lambert once credited Lindale teacher Janice Caldwell with helping her to get over her stage fright and perform before crowds. Lambert, a graduate of Lindale High School, never forgot the teachers who helped her succeed and now she's repaying the favor.
Lambert invited longtime Lindale High School speech and debate teacher Janice Caldwell and former LHS teacher April Coker to Nashville, Tennessee for a photo shoot on Tuesday. Lambert chose both educators as the most influential teachers in her life. The photo shoot and trip are sponsored by New York based, Teacherscount.org. According to Mrs. Caldwell, a poster with the photo of her, Coker and Lambert will be sent to 100,000 schools around the United States. The caption on the poster will reportedly read, "Behind Every Famous Person Is a Fabulous Teacher."
The two teachers were given the celebrity treatment for the photo shoot by professional hair stylist and make-up artist.
Lambert also treated the two teachers to tickets to last night's Nashville Rising, a benefit concert for flood victims. Performers at the event included Lambert, Sandra Bullock, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw Toby Keith, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Lambert's fiancé, fellow country music artist Blake Shelton.
Caldwell has 30 years of teaching experience and has spent the last 19 years with Lindale ISD. In August 2009, she was named Region VII's Secondary Teacher of the Year. Led by Caldwell, the Eagle speech and debate team won the state crown in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009. Caldwell has been nationally recognized by the National Forensic League for her strength as a speech and debate teacher.
