TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Three East Texas members of Young Life Africa are heading overseas to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in one week. There they will get to learn more about the organization that provides Bible studies and summer camps for Africa's youth.

But, before they go, they are gearing up with a fundraiser Saturday in Tyler called Climbing for Change. The marathon event's goal is to use treadmills to "climb" 1,000,000 feet and raise as much "change" as possible.

Tom Ramey with Young Life Africa says East Texans have a role they can play in Young Life Africa. "Young Life Africa is not Americans. It's Africans so we're there to support the most amazing group of people I've ever seen in my life."

There are two ways East Texans can participate in Saturday's event. They can round up pocket change from friends and family and drop it off at 360° Fitness. 100% of the "change" raised will go directly to the ministry of Young Life Africa. They can also help meet the 1,000,000 feet goal by hopping on a treadmill at the event.

If you would like to participate or drop off a donation, the event will take place Saturday at 360° Fitness behind Chili's on Loop 323 in Tyler. The event is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
