TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It was a big day for U.T. Tyler on Monday. The school introduced just their second head baseball coach in history, Paul Wyczawski. Coach says from now on you can call him 'Coach Y.'
Wyczawski comes to East Texas from Murray State in Kentucky as an assistant coach. Now he gets to take over one of the top division three programs in the country. Wyczawski has big shoes to fill, replacing the very popular James Vilade.
"I don't think I can just step into his shoes" said Wyczawski. "I'm not trying to replace him. I'm going to try and be myself and continue the great success and tradition that he started here and hope to build on it."
Wyczawski has already set the bar high, talking about bringing a national championship to Tyler. He added that recruiting will be much easier, being based in Texas.
