ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) - Elyria police say they have arrested an axe-wielding man who was spewing racially charged profanity at a child's birthday party over the weekend.
Brian Andrews and his cousin showed up at the four-year-old's party uninvited to confront the homeowners about some borrowed lawn chairs.
According to the police report, an argument ensued and Andrews said he was "there to take lives." He then pulled an axe from his shorts, started screaming profanity and wildly swinging his axe at people.
Andrews refused to cooperate once police arrived on scene, and continued his racially charged tirade. He even screamed for cops to "shoot me." Andrews was finally pepper-sprayed and taken into custody forcefully.
Once at the police station, he apologized to cops and told them he's a drug user. He also informed them he is a mixed martial arts fighter and he sometimes doesn't know when to turn it off.
Andrews was arrested for felonious assault, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and aggravated menacing. No word on when the man will appear in court at this time.
