LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) –  Firefighters battled a two tanker blaze at a Livingston asphalt plant Sunday evening.

Livingston Assistant Fire Chief John Haynes said liquid asphalt began leaking in the tanks, and an electrical motor ignited the fire.

Around 7 p.m. Sunday, ten fire trucks were called to the East Texas Asphalt Company located near Business 59 and FM 1988.

There was concern that the tanks might explode, but luckily firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

According to Haynes, one of the tankers is salvageable. No injuries have been reported.
