SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - By Jamey Boyum - email
SMITH COUNTY (KLTV) - East Texans are still checking out the damage of Thursday's storms. In fact, now, there is an ironic problem with the storms. They emptied at least two East Texas lakes. Both are near Tyler.
They are Club 13 Lake southwest of Tyler and Spring Club Lake north of Tyler.
The Spring Club Lake which we shot Thursday from Chopper 7 is now barren. Witnesses say the dam burst. Now, the lake is just a huge mud puddle.
The same as Club 13 Lake. The dam broke on that lake, as well.
"I saw the water rushing out of this lake, rapids as it went down and out, down the pike where it went down to the dam," said Connie Jackson, a Club 13 Lake resident.
"It's just a creek now," said Michael Schmitt, a Spring Club Lake resident. "That's crazy."
