HENDERSON, TX (KLTV) - A piece of frontier history now goes on permanent display at an East Texas museum.
Dedication ceremonies were held today at the Henderson Depot Museum for a historic cotton gin, donated to the museum.
The cotton gin was a gift to the museum from the "Mark F. Barts" family, and was the last one in Rusk County to have all the equipment in place.
The gin symbolizes Rusk County's early ties to the cotton industry.
Barts tells us, "It's just fantastic. It really is. It's great for the community, and gives you a good shot in the arm when you look at it. I would love to see it run. If nothing else, if they don't bail cotton, at least to hear the engine run."
The depot museum hopes to have the cotton gin's engine running for the Syrup Festival this fall.
