La Porte, TX (KTRE) - Authorities have apprehended a man who escaped the Polk County Jail.

The U.S. Marshal's Office and Polk County deputies apprehended Daniel Falls, 26, at his cousin's residence in La Porte, Polk County Chief Deputy Byron Lyons said.

Falls is being held in a Harris County facility. He will be transported to the Polk County Jail and is expected to arrive there between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Falls escaped the jail on May 24, while on work detail cleaning kitchen floors inside the county jail. He slipped past the deputy on duty and left the jail through an open back door.

Lyons said criminal charges will be filed on Falls' cousin.
