UPDATE 06/04/10 - Police have identified the woman who was struck and killed by a van on June 2nd, 2010 as Theresa Mae Eisenring, 20, of Longview. The driver of the van is not facing any charges.

LONGVIEW, TX - On June 2, 2010 at around 2:35 a.m., Longview Officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of West Marshall Avenue at Simms Street for a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
Officers arrived and learned that a Dodge Caravan had been eastbound in the 3100 block of West Marshall Avenue when the vehicle struck a woman who was standing in the roadway. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Gregg County Justice of the Peace Arthur Fort.
The driver told officers that he didn't see the woman before the accident occurred. There were no indications that the driver was intoxicated. The driver and the pedestrian were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center for toxicology.
At this time the victim has not been identified by investigators. She is described as a white female, 25-35 years of age. Traffic investigators and crime scene unit personnel are working to identify the victim through state and federal automated fingerprint identification systems.
The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
