Tyler police investigating morning shooting, aggravated assault

UPDATE: Police say a 30-year-old man was dropped off at an East Texas hospital early Tuesday morning with three gunshot wounds. The yet to be identified victim says he fell asleep in a car near Winters Park on 910 South Peach Street when he was shot at about 4 a.m. morning. Police say a search of the area failed to locate a crime scene or suspect and the man's injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Information provided by Sgt. Jeff Callaway:

A 30 year old man was dropped off by private vehicle at ETMC ER Tuesday morning at approximately 4:22 am with three gunshot wounds. The male had one gunshot wound  to the chest, one to the upper arm and one to the forearm. The male was taken to surgery shortly after arrival in what appeared to be non life threatening condition, however we are withholding his name as a precaution pending the outcome of surgery, since his family has not been notified at this time.

The victim  stated that he was asleep in a friends vehicle in or beside WE Winters Park located at 910 S Peach at approximately 0410 hours when he was struck by the gunfire. The victim stated that he did not know who shot him, or why he was shot. A subsequent search of the area failed to locate a crime scene or a suspect.
