The worst thing that ever happened in Jennifer Carson's life has inspired the most wonderful happening. When Carson lost her newborn son Braeden, her "grief work", as she calls it, turned to the creation of The Children's Park in Tyler.
Four years of planning meetings and fund raising have resulted in a beautiful park honoring children. Trees, sculptures and stones lining the paths of the park bear the names of children. Carson says it's a way for names to live on for generations and a way to keep the memories of the children alive.
Children's names can be added by donations and a planned expansion will enable more children to be honored. The Children's Park is located at 900 South Broadway in Tyler. Ownership of the park was given to the city of Tyler, while the "Children Are A Gift Foundation" oversees memorials and improvements.
