LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - It brings colorful characters from all over the country to East Texas, in a unique event that combines charity and honoring veterans. More than four thousand bikers rumbled into Longview's fairgrounds this weekend to participate in the Party in the Pines to raise money for local charities.

The gathering is a collection of interesting characters, some coming from as far away as California and Illinois, young and old.
"Seeing all the bikes and hearing all the music, we looked at all the tattoos and stickers and everything and we went in there looked at a whole lot of bikes in there," said 9 year old visitor B.J. Stephens.
"It has a lot to do with the veterans of this country who fought and served its for memorial day," said visitor Bruce Vicks.
Big attractions are the custom bike contest, the joker run, helicopter rides and the drag racing gage for bikes. Generally just having fun, but remembering that its memorial day weekend.
"We've got to honor our troops the ones that are keeping us safe across the country and pray for them and wish they could be here with us," said Gilmer visitor Brent Stephens.
The party continues with live music and another full day tomorrow with the event concluding Sunday at midnight.
